Authorize.net is a payment gateway that connects a business’s website, software, virtual terminal, or payment device to its merchant account and payment processor. It supports online, mobile, in-person, and manually entered transactions through one payment platform.
Authorize.net provides payment gateway technology. Most merchants also need an approved merchant account and a compatible payment processor to receive funds. We help businesses obtain the appropriate merchant account and connect it to Authorize.net.
Authorize.net supports major credit and debit cards, eChecks, ACH payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, and other supported digital payment methods. Availability depends on the merchant account, processor, country, and integration setup.
Yes. Authorize.net provides hosted checkout pages, embedded payment forms, APIs, payment buttons, and integrations for popular eCommerce platforms. Merchants can choose a simple hosted option or build a customized checkout experience.
Yes. Authorize.net offers connectors and integration options for platforms such as WooCommerce, Shopify, and Adobe Commerce, formerly Magento. Its APIs and developer tools can also connect payments with custom websites, mobile applications, CRMs, billing platforms, and other business systems. Compatibility depends on the software and merchant account configuration.
Yes. The Authorize.net Virtual Terminal allows authorized users to manually process credit card and eCheck transactions through an internet browser. It can support phone orders, mail orders, invoices, and other payments where the customer is not completing an online checkout.
Yes. Authorize.net includes Automated Recurring Billing, commonly called ARB. Merchants can create weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, installment, or custom payment schedules for subscriptions, memberships, retainers, and service plans.
Yes. Authorize.net Customer Profiles use tokenization to store customer payment information on Authorize.net’s systems. Merchants can use these profiles for repeat purchases and recurring payments without storing the customer’s complete card information in their own software.
Accept Hosted is a mobile-optimized payment form hosted by Authorize.net. A business can redirect customers to the form or embed it within an existing webpage. Because Authorize.net hosts the sensitive payment fields, Accept Hosted can help eligible integrations qualify for the SAQ A level of PCI assessment.
Accept.js is a JavaScript library that sends payment information directly from the customer’s browser to Authorize.net. Authorize.net returns a temporary payment token that the merchant’s application can use to submit the transaction. This reduces the amount of sensitive card data handled by the merchant’s server.
Yes. Authorize.net’s invoicing tool allows merchants to email an invoice with a secure payment link. The customer can open the invoice and complete the payment through an Authorize.net-hosted form.
Yes. Current Authorize.net tools include Pay by Link, digital invoicing, QR codes, and Simple Checkout buttons. These options can help merchants collect payments without building a complete shopping cart.
Yes. Authorize.net supports electronic bank payments through its eCheck service. Eligible merchants can use eChecks for invoices, recurring payments, phone payments, and other approved bank account transactions. ACH access depends on underwriting approval and account configuration.
Authorize.net includes an Advanced Fraud Detection Suite with configurable filters for transaction velocity, IP addresses, geographic location, payment information, and other risk factors. Merchants can choose whether suspicious transactions are processed, declined, or held for review. These tools can reduce certain risks, but they cannot stop every fraudulent transaction or chargeback.
Authorize.net states that it is a PCI DSS Level 1 Service Provider. Hosted forms, tokenization, and Authorize.net’s secure payment tools can reduce the amount of card data a business handles. Merchants must still complete the PCI requirements that apply to their payment environment.
Authorize.net offers Account Updater, which can update eligible stored card details when an issuer replaces or changes a customer’s card. This can reduce certain recurring payment failures caused by expired or replaced cards. It does not prevent declines caused by insufficient funds, closed accounts, fraud controls, or issuer decisions.
Yes. Authorized users can issue refunds for settled transactions and void eligible transactions before settlement. These actions can be completed through the merchant dashboard, Virtual Terminal, customer profiles, mobile tools, or supported API integrations.
Yes. Authorize.net provides APIs, developer documentation, sandbox testing, and webhooks. Webhooks can send transaction and account event notifications to a merchant’s software, which can support order updates, reporting, customer notifications, and internal automation.
Authorize.net can support enterprise-level payment processing through custom APIs, customer profiles, recurring billing, invoicing, fraud controls, digital payment methods, and multiple payment channels. Suitability depends on the company’s transaction volume, software environment, payment workflow, processor compatibility, and reporting requirements.
Authorize.net can connect to merchant accounts approved for certain specialized or high-risk industries. Authorize.net does not determine merchant account eligibility by itself. Approval depends on the acquiring bank, processor, business model, products, website, processing history, and underwriting requirements. We help merchants identify acquiring relationships that can support Authorize.net when available.
Authorize.net costs depend on how the account is established, the merchant service provider, enabled features, transaction volume, and payment methods. Gateway, transaction, merchant account, ACH, security, and optional service fees may apply. We review the complete processing structure before presenting pricing and do not apply one standard rate to every business.
Authorize.net is one of the payment gateway integrations we support. We help merchants evaluate their business model, payment channels, transaction volume, risk profile, and software requirements. We also coordinate merchant account underwriting, processor compatibility, gateway configuration, fraud settings, and integration support.
We begin by reviewing your business type, website, expected monthly volume, average transaction amount, payment channels, and technical requirements. We then identify a compatible merchant account and configure Authorize.net for the approved online checkout, virtual terminal, ACH, invoicing, recurring billing, mobile, or in-person payment workflows.
